16 Ways to Combat Morning Grogginess: Part 1

What is sleep inertia? Sleep inertia is a physiological state characterized by a decline in motor dexterity and a subjective feeling of grogginess immediately following an abrupt awakening. The impaired alertness may interfere with the ability to perform mental or physical tasks. This feeling can last up to four hours.

Here are a few ways to combat this feeling.


#1 Quit watching TV before bed

#2 Get enough sleep


#3 Wake up at the same time every morning

#4 There’s an App for that


#5 Take a morning shower

#6 Expose yourself to light quickly


#7 Exercise

#8 Drink coffee, but sparingly

I will conclude this list of ways to combat morning grogginess tomorrow. If you experience morning grogginess what do you do to get rid of that feeling. I’m fortunate. I rarely ever experience this. I’m always ready to go as soon as I get up.
