Happy New Year!
Today is the last day of 2017 and I am so thankful for all of you who have read, commented on and shared my blog posts. I am looking forward to the new year with great expectations.
Last year was good for me. I made some changes in my diet which totally changed my life. Made new friends through this blog and Facebook. And I’m embarking on a new take on and old career.
So it is December 31, 2017 and just like all the other days, “This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad it in!” Psalm 118:24
Rejoice and to be glad means to be happy about something. Here are other words that you can substitute for rejoice and be glad:
- Be overjoyed
- Feel happy
- Jump for joy
- Make merry
Look at all of these words. Do you notice anything? These are all verbs. We are to put ourselves into it when we rejoice and are glad.
When you look at these twelve words and know the definition we can do nothing but smile. God smiles when we rejoice and are glad.
Delight: Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
Celebrate: They rejoice in your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness. Psalm 89:16
Enjoy: Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2
Glory: “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14
Joy: But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. Psalm 5:11
You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, Psalm 30:11
Rejoice and Be Glad in 2018!
As I go throughout my day, I want to meditate on these words and verses. I need to remind myself that no matter what is happening in my world, that I am still going to rejoice and be glad. God is in control and he is going to make everything that happens to me today and every day forward work together for my good because he loves me. And that is the best way I know to end 2017 and begin the new year.
