Autoimmune Disorders and Discouragement

Being Discouraged with Autoimmune Disorders

Living with autoimmune disorders can be discouraging.

I have had my share of discouragement when it comes to living with autoimmune disorders. The first discouragement is when the doctor told me what I have and that there isn’t a cure.

My second discouragement was being prescribed a medicine that was suppose to help and it didn’t. It actually made things worse.

I have found that discouragements come in all different ways:

  • The loss of a job due to health issues.
  • Being diagnosed with more than one disorder.
  • Having to discontinuing doing an activity that I absolutely loved because of the disorder.
  • Having to stop eating mouthwatering, delicious food, because of the disorder and my overall health.
  • Thinking I finally figured out what is causing a flare, and then to have the same flare ignite because of something completely different.

During all of these times of discouragement I had to remember that I was not going through this them alone. God has been with me in the past and he is faithful to me now. He is going to give me the strength I need to get through discouragements today, tomorrow and in the future.

I love finding words of truth in the Bible to help me when I’m feeling discouraged.

7 Verses for When You are Discouraged #self-care #autoimmunewellness #autoimmunedisorders7 Verses for When You are Discouraged

1 Peter 1:6-8

You now rejoice in this hope, even if it’s necessary for you to be distressed for a short time by various trials. This is necessary so that your faith may be found genuine. (Your faith is more valuable than gold, which will be destroyed even though it is itself tested by fire.) Your genuine faith will result in praise, glory, and honor for you when Jesus Christ is revealed. Although you’ve never seen him, you love him. Even though you don’t see him now, you trust him and so rejoice with a glorious joy that is too much for words.

Matthew 28:20

20  teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.”

John 14:1-3

The way, the truth, and the life

14 “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God. Trust also in me. My Father’s house has room to spare. If that weren’t the case, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you? When I go to prepare a place for you, I will return and take you to be with me so that where I am you will be too.

John 14:27

27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I give to you not as the world gives. Don’t be troubled or afraid.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Let’s also run the race

12 So then let’s also run the race that is laid out in front of us, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us. Let’s throw off any extra baggage, get rid of the sin that trips us up, and fix our eyes on Jesus, faith’s pioneer and perfecter.

Philippians 1:6

I’m sure about this: the one who started a good work in you will stay with you to complete the job by the day of Christ Jesus.

Psalm 31:23-24

23 All you who are faithful, love the Lord!
The Lord protects those who are loyal,
but he pays the proud back to the fullest degree.
24 All you who wait for the Lord,
be strong and let your heart take courage.
