This is a great reminder to keep our eyes healthy. Those of us living with autoimmune disorders that affect the eye, need to make sure that we are keeping our appointments with our eye doctors.

Eye Exams

How often should we be visiting our eye doctors?

  • Once a year if you have vision problems
  • At 40: a baseline eye exam
  • From 40 to 55: an eye exam every 2 to 4 years
  • Ages 55 to 64: an eye exam every 1 to 3 years
  • At 65 and up: an eye exam every year

Foods that Help Keep Your Eyes Healthy

  • Bell Peppers
  • Carrots
  • Spinach, Kale, and other Dark Green, Leafy Vegetables
  • Blueberries
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Turkey
  • Wild Salmon
  • Chia Seeds

    Yes, indeed! And some of the meds to treat these disorders can be very damaging to the eyes as a side effect, like Plaquinal (spelling)? We have to stay on top of it even more so if you choose to use these meds! Great reminder, Brenda! Thank you!

    Yes please keep on top of your eye health. Unfortunately I lost my vision in my left eye do to severd optic nerve from MS and having problems with my left eye as well. Great information and thank you. I have learnt so much from all your post. 🌹
