Corn on the cob is a great side dish for our summer meals. How doesn’t love corn on the cob?
We just had fresh corn on the cob two weeks ago. It was delicious! It was so crisp and sweet. I don’t use butter or salt on mine. I didn’t think it needed it.
Does anyone else wrap the cob in plastic and cook it in the microwave? I remember when I was a kid filling a big pot with water and throwing the corn in. It would take forever.
How about a corn boil? Have you ever been to one? I remember going to a corn boil. The corn was great and you could eat as much as you wanted. I’m from the midwest, so every year we had “Cornfest” and a corn boil.
Corn was so plentiful that the farmers would back a big truck up in the parking lot of a store and dump it into a pile. Then we could drive by and get a big grocery bag (the paper kind) for only a dollar. The corn we had two weeks ago was the cheapest I have seen it here in California. For a very limited time it was ten cents an ear. Now it is thirty-three to fifty cents an ear.
This is the first year that we are growing corn in the back yard. And as the song says, “We are watching our corn pop up in rows!” It looks great.
You have to see this! I’m going to try this the next time I have corn on the cob.
